Hi, I recently bought a new Panasonic 50" TX E700B.
A pal gave me his old Sony DAV DZ230. The dvd player works fine with the surround sound but I can't connect it to my TV successfully. The DAV only has 1 hdmi port and a scart. As the TV has no scart I've found an old scart to 3 RCA phono lead. Still no sound after connecting it all together. The only way I can get sound is through the audio in on the DAV going in to headphone port on the TV. Although it only supplies sound to 2 speakers.
I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can't think what it is

This is a Home Theater sound system
The dvd player works fine with the surround sound
Do you have it connected directly to the DAV? If so, how?

Connecting what to what?

But you said earlier you were OK with the DVD through the DAV. Did you get sound then?
EDIT - OK, now I see the DAV has DVD player built in. I don't think the DAV is intended for playback of TV sound. It looks to me as though it is purely intended for Home Theatre - playback of DVDs. The HDMI and SCART are output only. You can connect other devices to the 3.5mm input on the front panel, but that will only get you two channels

Thanks for replying. Yes the sound is perfect through the dvd player. That's a shame if that's the case.0

See p19 or thereabouts in the Sony manual - it only refers to the HDMI and SCART as outputs.0

Yep, just downloaded the manual and saw it. Oh well, looks like it'll be going on eBay0
