A few small things out of the house - part of the ongoing keeping on top of the clutter before it begins
*Seeds that I won't use to friends who will
*A sheet of stickers to MIL (she's a teacher)
*A book to the CS that I won't read again
There's a bunch of stuff for the tip too. Just got to catch OH in a good mood!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Having just moved, our trips to the tip are weekly! This week we managed to get the fibre glass pond liner out of the ground. OH chopped it up into 4 with his jigsaw and it came out quite easily and off to the tip it went. Some of the rocks, odd paving slabs, bricks, lumps of concrete from the 'rockery' are now residing at the bottom of the hole.
Met the father of one of our new neighbours earlier at my exercise class; his daughter has just moved into the street from abroad with very little furniture. Have asked him to offer her our excess sofa if it would help her. Done with a very heavy heart, I don't want to lose it but OH does. I think we will have space for it when our extension is done and we'll probably end up buying another, but in the meantime our lounge is too overcrowded and so we're not using the room at all.Make £2025 in 2025

Hello all.
Not commented in a looooong time, but I have been slowly and steadily kondoing in the background and reading all your inspirational posts.
In April my car kondoed itself by failing the MOT. It was 19 years old. We had a great 12 years together. I didn't rush to replace it, and actually I'm managing pretty well without one. I have to plan ahead, and leave more time for getting places but it's all good.
This summer I feel like things have started to click with my journey.
Lots of bags to the charity shops, and furniture sold on the auction site of choice. I finally feel like I can invite people over without having a mega tidy up (i.e squeeze it all in the spare room and shut the door).
I had the BHF come and collect a heap of stuff this week (way too much to carry on the bus or on foot).
There's still a bit of clutter in the room of doom to deal with but there is actual visible floor space.
Some categories probably need going over again but I finally get what MK meant by the click point, and that the more that you let go of, the easier it becomes to keep only what makes you truly happy."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Am now half-way through feeding last Sunday's parental home Stuff into the chazzer, will aim to get some more there this afternoon after work. It was literally enough to cover my bed when offloaded, so cannot stay.
Like many folk with smallish homes, I have to get stuff out as soon as it's winkled out of cupboards and drawers as there are no intermediate areas like spare rooms to keep things in. Can be a bit of a nuisance, but it does mean that the discards don't pile up.
I call it 'unshopping' as I go out with a donation bag and ususally return empty-handed.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Kondoed some money last night to go and visit the independent cinema in our new town. Sadly I nodded off early on (we went to eat before the cinema and the carbs made me sleepy), it was a film called The Current War about electricity, and having lost the plot, was impossible to pick it up again. If I'd been sat on OH's other side, I would have slid out and gone home. On the upside, the cinema is lovely and we will return for a better experience I'm sure.
Today I've completed my accountant's checklist for compiling my tax return, so that's a niggly job no longer nagging in the background.
Two more mice trapped overnight. Not sure if the cat has picked up fleas despite our use of oral flea treatment. I vacced up the fur where she had been sitting in my office and found a small insect...
Cat is now going in and out through her new catflap which was successfully installed at the weekend. It's all bells and whistles, connects via an app to our phones so sends us messages when she goes in or out. It was handy last night when we went out, it was chucking it down with rain and I didn't want her going out again, so was able to lock her flap remotely from my phone. The funniest thing is, the phone emits a miaow as she passes through the flap.Make £2025 in 2025

About to test our MK efforts to the max as we will shortly have to completely empty our bedroom for the ceiling to be replaced.
It is lath and plaster so there will be black mortar dust everywhere....
In preparation we've moved things around in the other two rooms, taken two pieces of furniture to the CS, moved another item into the garage and ordered some packing boxes.
Basically, we will move into the middle bedroom and fill the back bedroom with (neatly stacked !) boxes and furniture. I'm already very glad that we'd thinner things down considerably but I rather think the CS and/or ebay will be involved again.
I'm busy planning capsule wardrobes for us both :rotfl:I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Wow that sounds like quite a job. A friend of mine had a lath-and-plaster in his small utility room fall down while he was on holiday. I was pet-sitting, it was only a few square feet but the mess was incredible.
Am up bright and early and have readied today's donation bag for after-work drop off. It's relatively heavy as is mainly books plus two articles of clothing, so I'm taking the wally trolley with me today.
Home is a bit of a mess as I have part-completed sewing projects every which way. Weather is predicted wet, so won't be gardening after hours in the next couple of days, so plan to make a concerted push on the sewing and get it done and away - one is a mending project for Mum, so I'd like to get that back to her asap.
Other than that, it's mainly mainenance. Oh, and limbering up for a post Bank Holiday trip to the parental home, where some decluttering is extrememly likely to take place!:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

To make it even more fun, the ceiling was covered with some kind of artex coating by the previous owners. Thank goodness that part of the storm damage is covered by insurance.
The damage to the roof itself, apparently, is classed as 'wear and tear' .Who knew you had to replace your roofing felt every 25 years?!!!
Anyway, we emptied the space under the damp eaves in 15 minutes thanks to previous MK forays :T:T:T:T
It took longer to get DH through the small doors than it did to pass out the neatly boxed contents and stow them in the empty space under the attic bed. 80% of the stuff belongs to our adult kids. I was responsible for a gym mat that can now be binned and a suitcase containing some clothes from my glory days, including my first evening dress. I used to think I was fat......:o:(
We will go through our bedroom understairs cupboard this weekend and see what should leave the house, so that when we do empty the room we are only moving things that spark joy or are necessary. I
After that, it will be the run of wardrobes _pale_:eek:I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
I've kondod a lot of money this week now the new heating system is finished. But needs must.
I've also kondod a lot (and I mean a lot of ivy and unknown bushes, weeds and general overgrown stuff from the garden. We managed a big bonfire to get rid of the first wave of rubbish but I fear it's going to be a weekly burn to get the garden back to some sort of state of order. It's been so neglected for years and I need to remember that it will take more than a few months to get straight again. The rear 30/40 foot hasn't been touched for donkeys of years and rather than a wildlife haven it's more of a land beyond time. I still haven't managed to get to the fence line due to the ivy and brambles growing in every direction, the garden backs onto woodland so it's rather encroached.
I've also kondod a fire surround, stone, perfectly acceptable for the setting and fire that was here but all had to come out when the back boiler was removed. It's currently standing in my hall way and hopefully leaving the building over the weekend (I can't lift it alone so whoever comes to the door next will get seconded to help).
I'm now off to dig through the potting shed, the previous owner didn't empty it and so far I've dug out a few bun bags of pots that have died so dread to think what else is out there! Wish me luck! (I'm taking no chances and wearing my wellies to do this one, I think there will be beasties)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
