Started re-tidying/ sorting the airing cupboard, getting things out for DS1 to take to uni. Have got a pair of blackout curtain linings (immaculate) for CS, a 'protective'/ backed single sheet for a local children's charity, a heap of things for the fabric recycling (a fitted mattress protector with perished elastic, DS1's old and stretched school jumper, a stained duvet cover and pillow cases and an old and worn thin bath mat), a large old sheet for the decorating bag and a pile of bits for DS1 :) :T

Went to admire a friend's baby, and gave them our packnplay, a toddler mattress and a buggy sleeping bag.

Gave my parents a boxful of items for their local charity shop.

Have sent my boss an email that I am not coping with the amount of work (I try to do 12 days work in 4), and she wants to sit with me next week.

Have discussed alternative career options with friends. I'd like to be an interpreter, but need to check local laws, requirements, fees, profits, etc. I am 46, so if I want a new career, I shouldn't leave it much longer.

Enjoying our two houdini rabbits very much. No matter how secure I close their pen, they manage to escape at least once a week. They don't go far, the neighbours don't mind, and they always return at some point.

  • Siebrie, I've changed - or perhaps diverted - careers several times, I'm currently on my last role which will see me up to retirement in a few years. I've never regretted it. It's much easier to carry on with the status quo, no matter how painful it is on a day-to-day basis, but changing can bring many benefits. If you can afford the cost of further studies and qualification/starting again at a lower level, then go for it. It doesn't sound as if your current role is sparking much joy!

I am a Assistant (Legal) to the Executive Vice President of an international firm with around 95,000 employees. I enjoy the admin bit of my job, I like the product and the part I play in making it available to the public, the team are lovely, the work for the Board of Directors is very interesting, my new boss (started 8 months ago) is nice but never gave herself time to figure out how our systems work and what work I do. She is turning me into her personal assistant without conferring with me. I am not interested in PA work; I am a much better librarian/admin than I am travel agent/events manager.

I've cleaned the garage, broke some laminate up and put in the bin , left a suitcase next to bin and they've took it!
A bag of hubby's work tools are going to a friend. Car accessories and a roll of insulation to dd. A large toy to nephew.
There's a couple of other items that will go in skip when my bathroom is being done.
Logs to my sister for the log burner, and bags of rock salt to local school.
There's room been made now for the bathroom deliveries.

I have a renewed interest in both reading and cooking after being poorly for a long while. Several new to me cookery books and novels have been purchased, today 8 books have gone to the CS to try and make some space:j

:) I bought a new mug a week or so ago and donated another. One in, one out is a good way to stop accumulations happening.

Have just finished a novel given to me by a pal on Sunday, this Sunday it goes to another pal, and thereafter it goes to a charity shop.

I have also shed 13 CDs, 12 were driver discs for programs on the old pooter and have gone for recycling but the 13th had a copy of my hard drive from 2003 and was cut into small fragments ad binned.

Plenty more things in process of being used up and worn out.

Sadly the large piece of equipment is still in the garage :( I still have some cupboards to sort and clear. The only thing I seem to have kondoed this week is the electric fly swatter - passed to the sailing club as the wasps have been about but are getting a bit dozy and inclined to sting!

I'm on a small yet satisfying use-it-up mission: dds have many elastic hairbands, the type you use to make a ponytail. Over the years they were given quite a few cute ones, and we have bought several types before we found a brand and make that we like. My mission: braid my own hair every night and use one band until the elastic is gone. They seem to last about 3 weeks on average, and it declutters their hair accessories box nicely. We are working towards only storing accessories that spark joy and are in decent condition.
