FYI phoned the bank today to ask when I would be getting my £250 for switching which I did 2 months ago....got told that as I didn't use the automated switch service I wasn't eligible...I remember the page when asked to do it manually or automatically and nowhere did it say that if you did it yourself then you wouldn't get the deal. I'm furious all they said was that it was in the T's and C's and in the Banks favour so they wouldn't do anything. I moved everything across as well pay the lot. I feel so ripped!

Switch offer qualifying criteria:
2. The switch must be completed using the Current Account Switch Service*, which involves the transfer of all active credit and debits from the account you hold with another bank or building society, and the completion of an account closure instruction for that account.
Pretty clear really.0 -
Chalking it up as a lesson in making sure you do read the T&Cs in full before diving in, is all you can do unfortunately. Every switch offer I have used has required that you switch using the CASS service, which is automatic.0

You had to use the switch service to qualify for the £250 reward; the terms did however state that the two qualifying direct debits could be set up manually. This is probably what has caused the confusion.0

Thanks all points all valid and noted for next time!0

I think as well as reading the T&Cs, you need to understand them! I can understand someone reading 'switch your account' and thinking 'move everything across' rather than understanding the phrase to mean the bank has to do itI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0
