Wall between seperating footpath

I live in a semi detatched house. My front door is on the side of the house as is my neighbour's front door.
We have a path between our houses and she is going to put a fence/wall up to seperate them.
I am concerned because the path is only one paving stone wide and at the moment if either of us puts large things in our house through the front door we use the other person's space to turn.
This wall will mean that if we either move it will be very difficult to take large things out.
I will not be able to put my bike in through the front door (it will be possible through the back but tricky).
It will be difficult for push chairs to come in and for anyone with a wheelchair almost impossible.
Most of all I am worried that if I ever move before them, it will be harder to sell - particularly to anyone with young children or friends in wheelchairs.
Is there anything I can do?

Do you mean 2 paths one slab wide for each house ? If so then probably not a lot you can do about it, how wide is the gap between the houses ? Check your / their deeds to see if they can fence it.

Your neighbour can put up a fence on her property - HOWEVER if you have a right of way on the shared access, this cannot be removed.

    Check.

Yes one slab wide and I will measure it.
Thanks for the ideas about the deeds.

No the council cannot stop anyone putting up a fence. You need to check your deeds to see if a ROW exists.

With such a narrow pathway, it's very likely that you both have a right of way over the half of the path.

It would be worth getting both sets of deeds from the Land Registry.

Thank you all, if I did have a right of way what could be done? I certainly do not want to go to court (unless it is small claims court).

Why are you happy with one court and not the other? :)

Anyway, if you have a right of way, the correct thing to do is talk to your neighbour and let them know.

I was going to talk to them first but I wanted to know what to do if they continued regardless.
