Attendance Allowance and Tax Allowance

Hi - my dad has recently been awarded Attendance Allowance which is tax free. However, surely he will need to pay more tax as his income will now be higher than it was. Sorry if it is a daft question.

Attendance allowance is not taxable therefore not included in his taxable income.0
