Is it just me

Options
Whilst logging in to accounts you get asked to input the 3rd,8th,and 10th character from your password. Well I shall admit on a public forum I can't do it in my head, need to use my fingers. Simply can't count and spell in my head at the same time, then to really demonstrate my ineptitude often get it wrong even when I do use my fingers.

Just me. Hope not.

Have a way to keep a record of all your passwords & usernames securely. I do this and never have any probs touch wood.

Me too :) It is a lot easier on the sites which use a series of boxes that are greyed out or not to indicate which characters you need to type in. Santander and Tesco get top prizes in that regard ;) Even if the login is slightly less secure in theory.

I can do it easily in my head.

But after a while, I just remember it anyway, so I can say what the 12th character of my memorable word is off the top of my head. If you get asked anything enough you remember it automatically without trying...

I don't need to use my fingers, but often wish I hadn't chosen a 12 letter memorable name for Ford Money!

I use passwords with some symmetry to them - e.g 5 letters, 5 numbers and then 5 letters. If asked for character 6 I know instantly it's the first one of the numbers. If asked for 12 I know it's the second one of the second block of letters etc. That way I only have to count to (in this example) 5.

    Definitely not just you.

I use my fingers - physically & not just mentally.

What's worse though is that I find I'm getting confused when asked for, eg the 4th digit when the 4th digit is a 5 (if that makes any sense at all). badger's brain just doesn't work as well as it used to:(

I don’t just use my fingers, I say it out loud too.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

1Password has a neat option where it shows the password with each character numbered in sequence. Makes it a breeze. ;)

Conveniently the same number as fingers on one hand (I assume) ;)
