    Yes and don't post daily updates on FB about what you're doing on holiday, like some numpty parent at our kids school did when her child was supposedly "off sick" :rotfl:

    From what I read here and elsewhere, to be effective, the fines would need to be increased significantly.
    No, I wasn't meaning the intention was to make money. They are using tax payers money to administer a scheme that makes a loss, which probably isn't a good use of funds.

    It’s a balance, isn’t it? If school were just preparation for work that would be terrible!

    So not just preparation for work but for life.

    Ironically when children are taken on term time holidays they are often sad to miss out on end of term activities like sports.

    But that's not my main concern. I dislike the fact that children's own parents are teaching them poor attitudes like calling in sick when you're not.
