Can I take an Amazon Echo on UK holiday with me?

sadly my kids bought me one for xmas,apart from annoying the cat with meow its a waste of time.
Great idea of Amazon to get you to purchase more from them,so can you please tell me what i should use it for.

OP - you will need either an iPhone or Android phone (or Kindle Fire) with the Alexa app installed to configure the Echo - this is because when you are changing the wifi that the Echo is connected to, you have to put it Echo in to configuration mode. In configuration mode, the Echo becomes its own WiFi access point that your phone has to connect to. Once that connection is established, you are talking directly with the Echo, and select the new WiFi you want it hooked in to, and enter the password.
This is not something that you can do via a laptop, because the "App" on a laptop isn't - it's a web page - you actually need the local functionality to talk to the Echo in configuration mode, which is what the smartphone app does for you.0 -
If I were you OP and want to continue using your Echo to it's fullest I'd seriously consider biting the bullet and getting a cheapo Android phone or tablet.0
