Latest views on LED GU10 spots?

Hi.

I've given up getting free replacements for duff GU10s that I got from a certain supplier. Most of the ones I bought early on have lasted but others, bought later have not, particularly ones in my bathroom.

I've changed the bathroom fittings for ones that allow more air through but I'm looking for another supplier/type for the spots. They need to be a true 50w replacement (I've gone for 6.5w or 7w LED so far), warm white (2700K), and with a high CRI (over 80). Dimmable is not necessary.

Any thoughts folks?

I recently replaced a no. Of old halogen Gu10 with leds.i went for Enlite make from local shop. Very good quality of light and colour rendering is great at 3000k.

I think I replaced our old MR16 12v halogens with Enlite Aurora GU10 fittings though I can’t remember which bulbs, but they were compatible with my Lightwave switches.

Well-Lit sell good quality high CRI bulbs so worth a look.

You won't go wrong with some Philips GU10s.

Fitted Philips GU10 Master LEDs around the whole house and they have all been perfect for 3 years without issue (36 of them). Won't go back to any other make now as the odd one will fail every year or so.

Currently have a lot of LAP 4w bulbs on the go (from Screwfix). One failure in the last year or two ... so quite pleased.

Is it possible that because you're using higher power ones that they are more likely to over heat and fail?

I've been using the Toolstation COB GU10's for quite a while now with no problems. The first ones I bought were slightly longer than standard but they now have all glass ones which look very similar to halogen bulbs.

I’ve been using cheap Chinese ones off eBay for the last four or five years. No problems with them so far.

Maybe so, particularly using the enclosed fittings that I used to have in the bathroom (now better ones). Then again, I think anything under around 7w is likely to be too dim to be close to the brightness of a 50w halogen. Perhaps things have improved.
