Master plan went belly up as the rain started just after my porridge breakfast:(
Plan was potter in garden, tie up toms, check fruit, prop up French beans, etc, little potter type jobs. Now on here thinking I may hunt the GG Grandmother post orphanage but pre-marriage, around 1860s
I've removed the LO savoury mince and taken the fatty bits off the top. Given the weather a comforting savoury mince + maybe dumplings seems ideal dinner
Caron's post ref mushrooms reminded me I've half a dozen YS ones lurking, I'll bung them in the pot to clear them out
Lunch, cheese sarnie of some sort, could even bust into my new jar of piccalilli
Brambling, I imagine a lot of people missed connections with the M27 chaos yesterday, it extended miles in all directions from Fareham. Well past Wickham northwards and even as far as Hedge End westwardsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
It was sunny when I got up but it has just started to tip it down. I had intended to make a start on clearing out my lean to which has become a complete glory hole but that's on hold unless it dries up! Might need to tackle one of my least favourite jobs, the ironing, instead:eek:.
Last night's fish pie was scrummy and even better for once I managed to get the quantities right so no LOs:D. I didn't use all of the smoked salmon trimmings which I'll have in a sandwich or bagel for lunch with mashed avocado and spinach/rocket/watercress salad. Roast lamb & gravy from the freezer for dinner tonight with Jersey Royals, savoy cabbage, green beans and leeks. Breakfast was toast with sliced tomato and a nectarine.0 -
I need to make a fish order for my freezer, I have one mackerel left. Too many appointments coming up, cannot be getting the fish yet as I like to portion and vac pack myself and I don`t want things to overlap
Lunch is the last of 2 butternut squash pies, bought frozen while I was moving, Also in the oven are shallots, courgette and red pepper. I just ate ys pineapple and earlier had a lovely hm spelt roll, dough in the panny and individual rolls baked and frozen. Was lovely with hm blackcurrant jam and aeropress coffee. I feel like I am eating like a king today.
I have too much flour and the CBAedness has pretty well gone, so am baking a simple spelt loaf in the panny, on the rapid brown setting. Later on I will make pizza dough to freeze in portions as dough
lunch with washed LO spinach leaves, only eating that because it is LO. Later defrosted hm veg soup. At least now I am keeping on top of my food intake.
I have ordered choc sd kit as I had to let my sd starter die and I cba starting another one. It will make any variety of sd bread, I just feed it with various flours and it will adapt to any. I fancied the kit and the cards0 -
That soup was delish. I added onions and carrots. Soup weather in June!0

The piccalilli did get opened & duly dobbed onto cheese sarnie for lunch
Savoury mince back in oven, with the LO mushrooms +[STRIKE] splodge of brown sauce [/STRIKE]secret ingredient
I will add dumplings in a bit
Rain stopped so did a bit in the garden.
Bad news is the rain has caused my cherries to split and now rot is setting in :mad:I've eaten some even though not 100% ripe they are OK, a few more days would've seen them at their peak:(
Good news is the red currants are turning red, as are the strawberriesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I turned my chunky veg soup into winter soup, blended it very well so it was thick and creamy and easy to digest. Then I had a piece of victoria sandwich. I am hopping from day to day with my meals, used to meal plan but no point for solo life0

CFO is often that, take it as it goes with a rough idea of food ahead but luckily with CFO we are free to chop & change as the wind, or YSs blowEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
I have mixed feelings re meal plans, I know I eat a more varied diet if I do one but do go "off plan" frequently. I'm working to one at the moment, mainly to make sure the random stuff that gathered when the kids were here recently gets used up and not wasted. I'm finding that a planning a few days at a time is working okay for me just now. When I the kids lived at home and I was working, I would have been lost without one and used to bulk cook most Sundays to cover us until Wednesday. Of course now I don't need to be as organised but without even a vague plan I tend to fall into "one tray bung it in the oven" options decided on the day and eating a lot of variations of baked chicken/fish and roast veg.
I opted for a sarnie at lunch time instead of a bagel, the smoked salmon trimmings & avocado combination mixed with some lime juice & tabasco worked really well with the peppery leaves and tasted like a "posh" sandwich you'd probably pay £6+ in a cafe . It felt like a proper treat for a fraction of the cost:D.
I rained solidly all morning so I braved the ironing pile and make a good dent in it. It's another of those jobs I find a challenge as a) I hate it, b) I'm a pernickty ironer and c) I find the standing a challenge. I've never mastered the art of ironing while seated;). However, in the (supposed) warmer weather I love wearing linen and cotton which don't do so well with "shake & fold".:rotfl::rotfl:
It dried up later on and I made a start in the lean to, 3 bin bags of [STRIKE]absolute !!!![/STRIKE] no longer needed stuff have been filled for the tip. I reckon there's another [STRIKE]most of a roll of bags[/STRIKE] good few to fillbefore I get it properly decluttered.

I try to menu plan as it does help me to manage to eat healthy, I can be a little vague ie Monday chicken but not what I'm doing with it, a well stocked kitchen allows for this :rotfl: LOs frequently push the plan back  as can working late and cba mode
Sunday's I try to cook enough to take me into the next week and as I try to avoid bread I have to think outside the sandwich 'box'
My joints have flared up again probably not helped by the rain so I'm trying to eat healthier, eat less wheat and hope to lose a few more pounds. I can walk for miles but my knees object to sitting for any length of time which I did yesterday and I'm paying for today  my sister was complaining about her hands today as well. Anyone got a gun?
Plans to tackle the back [STRIKE]jungle[/STRIKE] garden were put on hold due to the weather, my nephew is going to do the heavy stuff for me I haven't mentioned the thorns on the japonica bush yet :shhh: :rotfl: so indoor tidying was done. My sister texted with a lunch invite so I was happy to walk away. I found there was a alternative motive for the lunch invite when she handed me her laptop when I walked in to fix an email issue  I did remind her that my nephew was probably better than me at that sort of thing, for an intelligent woman she is really tech phobic :rotfl:
Lunch was a selection of meat and cheeses (M&S tapas pack) crackers etc. I cooked a vegetable type 'lasagna' for dinner using griddled aubergine and courgette instead of pasta, ideal for using the odds and sods in the vegetable containersserved with runner beans, broccoli and asparagus. I also made a vegetarian crustless quiche for the next couple of lunches along with a fruit salad. I'll have to think how much of the lasagna I want to use as LO and what I can squeeze into the freezer

I think the unseasonable weather is causing health flare ups across the board:(. Hope your joints settle and meantime I'm trying to find a padlock for the "stable" as he is definitely wanting out:mad:.0
