Dreamies - side effects?

I wonder apart from pleasing the cat, are there any side-effects from cats having Dreamies?
For example does it make them hyper-active?
Can they have too many in a day?

Conversely, are there any side effects as a result of the cat going 'cold turkey'? That is, does 'do more Dreamies' equal any withdrawal symptoms?

  • No side effects that I've noticed, and mine gets a handful several times a week.
They definitely don't burst through walls to get at them. You might get a meow if you're lucky.

I've not noticed any side effects with any of my 4 cast. The vet we use gives them to cats they keep in if they've been operated on and the local cat rescue centre also gives their kitties dreamies so I assume they are OK.

It does say on the packaging not to give more than 20 per day. I presume this is because it is not a balanced meal product and is just a now and again treat.

Would anyone really give that many???? From the cost it is just a treat. I give mine them when they behave ie come when called or been particularly sweet or if something has frightened them a stroke and a couple of dreamies works wonders to calm them down. Ofcourse if I want them to wake and move quickly just open the dreamie draw and I have 4 cats around my ankles in a second.

Weight gain is a probable side effect if you feed too many.

My cat loves them, she actually sulks if we run out. My OH swears they are addictive (to cats...he doesn't eat them as far as I know) but I assume that it's just like humans and chocolate or the like. Our moggie prob gets more than she should but often will refuse to go out without a dreamie or several to chase, and it's easier to do that than try and get her out from under the dining table.

Dreamies gave my two cats the runs and despite this, they managed to eat the remaining stash I had hidden away a few weeks later (I bought them to tempt my cats into their carriers for vet visits). They had the runs for two days! No other side effects. My cats dont need treats, they will eat anything and frequently go yup neighbours houses for food as well, not to mention what they bring back from hunting! Despite this they aren't heavy cats, least they get a lot of exercise!

No side effects that I've noticed but mine have to be kept hidden and shut away because my ginger Sophie is a pro theif and has cleared us out more times than I can count.

They get a few when I feel like they deserve it but its only about 5 with 8 cats if I gave more they would have no left.

My brothers cat loves them too she worked out she could get through the gap behind the kitchen counters and get to where they were kept and use to help herself until my brother cottoned on

  • They chuck up luminous nastiness that stains anything it touches if they have too many.

Dreamies contain a fair bit of salt - For this reason alone, it's probably not a good idea to feed too many to a cat.

They are also very high in calories, so feeding too many to a cat will make them fat.
