Jazz is a granny car. See also Hyundai i10 etc.
Fiesta is a good call, my mother, who will be 80 this year has one. 1.25l engine I think, not going to lay strips of rubber on the tarmac at the traffic lights but plenty for the motorway.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Only in the UK. In the US it is a young person's car. My 28 year old stepson has one and loves it.0 -

What about a Juke or even a Smart for2, that would be different. DD wants something small and different and is looking at a Twingo next week.0

I'm inclined to agree with the Yaris.
Is a Ford B-Max a granny car?0 -
My 80 year old auntie has had a succession of skoda fabias which she is very happy with. She's only had several because she's one of those that insists on changing it every 3 years, not because she's ever had a problem. Meanwhile mine is a 2006 model which has cost very little in maintenance so far.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Fiesta 1.4 Automatic
Totally universal car in terms of age. Popular with young, old and everyone in between. Reliable and cheap to run and maintain. Decent auto box for a small car (get proper auto not semi). Not painfully slow and not too powerful either.0 -
Chances are her Focus keeps breaking down because she just uses it to do very short journeys around town. Anything you get will end up being exactly the same. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thanks for the advice everyone. If I can persuade her that the Honda Jazz isn’t a granny car then that seems like a popular choice.
I’ve always thought Ford cars were relatively cheap to repair because of their popularity, and therefore their familiarity with mechanics and the availability of spare parts. Is this true also of the Japanese cars now? E.g. Honda and Toyota.0
