Bosch washer dryer WVG30461GB broken after 18m

Kicking myself for not sending off the warranty but tbh I always buy Bosch and nothing has ever broken before! Sod's law though my 18m old washer has broken and it's a big problem according to my techie pal. Something to do with the module control board.
Given the brand and price I paid is it worth seeing if I can get the repair using my legal rights as opposed to having an actual warranty? Desperate I know but can't afford a major outlay just now.
What are my options - if any?

You should expect a washing machine to last more than 18 months. I’d approach both the retailer and manufacture and push for a replacement of repair. You’ve already written half of your complaint letter to Bosch; you always buy their stuff because you expect quality. You’ve not had quality in this instance.

With persistence, getting it sorted for free shouldn’t be a problem.

YOu're first letter should be to the retailer, they must be given the chance to repair the item.

Bosch have a 2 year guarantee and will usually honour it if you ring them and give them the model and serial number. They can tell the age from the serial number.
It will usually be FD**** *****
The first 2 after FD are the year of manufacture but you need to add 20 and the next 2 are the month eg FD 9602 would be made in February 2016 (96 + 20 =2016) 02 is 2cd month.
The final five will be the number made that year.
Model will be some thing similar to ENR - WV30461GB/05.
All this info will be on the inner door frame.

You don’t need to have registered the warranty as long as you’ve got some proof of the date of purchase such as the original receipt.

From memory, the Bosch warranty is one year. It is extended to two years if you register the product.

The Bosch standard warranty is 2 years and they ‘advise’ that you register so they can make you aware of safety updates, etc. Registering doesn’t form part of the warranty terms and conditions although it would make proof of purchase easier.
