Halifax Account Changes

Options
My recent Halifax online statement mentions a leaflet containing details about bank account changes. Obviously I do not have the leaflet - is there anything in there worth noting?

It also brings up the question should there not be a pdf floating about for changes like this.

They're supposed to send you one, when there are changes of significance ... even if you've neutralised paper statements. The OH received one this morning (her account is online - with online statements) - so I suspect mine is in the pipeline somewhere.

There's quite a few pages to it, but regrettably I only skimmed it before it was re-cycled. Awful lot of re-definitions of what gives rise to charges et al.
But the only thing that stuck in my mind is to the effect that 'cash will now clear on the 2nd day - irrespective of whether it's paid in over the counter or via the in-Branch machines'. Just struck me that would give rise to uncharitable remarks on forums somewhere?

I thought that too but I think it worked out that the interest will be paid from the 2nd day and not the funds available from the 2nd day. Pages 15 and 17 were similar and I thought they were the same.
  • Its interest on 2nd day but cash will clear immediatley over counter and IDM (Immediate Deposit Machine). Condition 7.1 on page 12 confirms chart confirms that if you pay cash in over counter or IDm machine you can withdraw the funds the same day. Page 17 condition 20.2 confirms interest will be paid from next day

The main changes in the conditions booklet are about definitions and the fact that the easycash(basic account) charges are decreasing to £15 ect

There are some new conditions and wordings been added.

They are changing overdrafts, but not yet.

I defer happily to someone who has the booklet to hand. Mine is at the very bottom of the re-cycling bin, and I am not going in head first after it. Particularly as there is a small hedgehog out there, at the moment, that we are striving to get as fat as it's larger mates! (for winter - not for Christmas!)

I did say I only skimmed it, so apologies if I got it wrong. But if it is clearance on Day 1 and interest from Day 2 - that is exactly how it works at the moment (source : pdf June 2007 T&Cs). As the covering blurb indicated the booklet contained 'important changes' - I had mistakenly assumed most of the content was changes!

I'll get back to the hedgehog - they're a lot more straightforward.

I did think the same as you and was outraging quietly to myself about it when I realised the charts were different. I wouldn't disturb the hedgehog.

I did miss the bit about the charge only being £15 instead of £39, that should have been underlined.

Your word is good enough;) . I can see the booklet at the bottom of the bin (emptied, perversely, the day the booklet was fed to it) - but it is a v large bin (with a glass bin and a tin bin occupying the top third), so I am not attempting an excavation lest I also finish in its depths.
