Moving from UK to USA to live for 5 years

Hi, My husbands job is moving to USA for at least next 5 years. Needing to set up a home in Connecticut, does anyone have any advice or know of any useful website.
I wish Martin had an American cousin with a US version of this website lol

The move should be easier as it's your husbands employer moving you so they should take care of all the visa and immigration stuff.
Just beware (and this probably won't apply as husband moving with a company he's already employed by) that many US employers do drug screen urine tests.Codeine is a no no if you don't have a doctors prescription to prove it's for medicinal purposes, so no over the counter co-codamol for 6 weeks is what we were advised.
Car insurance will be costly as you're going to be starting from scratch. We paid £1500 for 6 months insurance on a car worth $8k, and that was just with the lowest state required cover.

Our son had to have his first of 3 Hep B injections a few weeks before admission.
At the airport when you land, check that the immigration officer records the correct info on your I-94 arrival card ie the date you have to leave the USA by and visa type. Son flew back from the UK with my father once and the officer got their departure dates and visa type mixed up! The next day I checked son's I-94 stub stapled into his passport and it said he had to be out of the country in 6 months time and my father could stay for 2 years! This may have created a BIG problem for son next time he came to leave the USA if it was outside the 6 months as according to the I-94 he would have overstayed.
