soundproof windows?

I live alongside a four-lane dual-carriageway, traffic noise is high especially in the early hours.

Whilst it hasn't been totally solved, I reckon its been halved. Had a quote for new double-glazing in the front bay windows and box room - ten in all. The lady said "We installed some down the road at No 40" called her bluff I thought - by calling there - but sure enough new windows, demonstrated the difference - amazed.

So, February last year (as luck would have it coldest days of the year), had them installed. Very pleased, so much so, have had the windows at the side of the house re-done (three in June, Two in October.

What's so special about these you may wonder - laminated noise reduction glass. The ten in the cost £4,300 including selected design in the ventilator windows.

Just wander around your streets and see who has nice windows. Knock on their door and ask who did them. Do that a few times and you'll see a pattern .

It isn't about appearance though, it's about noise reduction. The two don't necessarily come hand in hand.

Can I ask who did the work?

I’ve been quoted double that for 8 windows (inc 2 bays) for my London terrace house.
