Hi everybody,
Sorry for being annoying or what not, but I’m just wondering if anybody could advice me on what I’m entitled to.
So I have a disability which affects the way I walk, talk and have numerous seizures per day.
I’m currently getting Full ESA, (£376 per week in support group) But now I have moved in with my partner so she’s can care and help me easier and I have lost my disability premiums, (£60+). and my girlfriend has lost her income suppor. (Which is understandable)
I also get £306 PIP, (Middle rate).
We have two children, but I’m just wondering, if my girlfriend applies for Carers Allowance. Will my PIP or ESA be reduced?
Thanks in advanced. :money:

Does your partner care for you for at least 35 hours a week? If so and she earns less than £116 per week after tax then yes she can claim CA for looking after you. It won't affect your PIP but as you can't claim CA and ESA together, what they will do is take the Carers Allowance off your ESA and add a premium of £34.60. CA will then pay her the £62.70. It will look like you're worse off at first but infact you'll be £34.60 per week better off.0 -
Thanks for your response.
No my partner isn’t working.
We’re claiming as a couple yes.0 -
A claim for CA can only be made online. It can also take anything from 8-12 weeks to process.0

So if my partner applies for C.A, will be better off by £34?

Yes providing all the criteria are met e.g care for you 35 hours per week, if she works then earns less than £116 per week.

Poorly worded because CA and ESA can be claimed at the same time. The rest of the post is accurate in stating the the CA will be taken off the amount of ESA and the stated premium added.
I wouldn't want people to think that they are unable to make a claim to ESA if in receipt of CA, or vice versa.0
