I just read on Teletext that house waiting lists are at a 30 year high with the number of applicants increasing by almost 60% to 19,703 from 12,449 in 5 years. Looks like brother is going to have a long wait.

I understand what has been said about the cheats etc. They are where we live too. My husband and i are waiting to be re housed due to my ill health. Our two sons are going to have to look for private rental which is so expensive. We were told a year ago that when we moved to bungalow, the two lads who work and can pay rent might be able to stay on in this house which we have lived in for a very long time. We were offewred a place ideal for the two of us last weekend and when we rang to pick up a key to view it were told we had been fed the wrong info last year and the move would mean the two lads would have nowhere to go. Had we been told the right info(no one got back to say they would not be able to stay on here) so we had to turn it down and they are now having to look for a place so if we get offered another place we will have to take it . All it took was a letter to say it is not possible to stay on here and we would have had it all sorted and ready to go. Good luck and i wish your brother well.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

Update - Brother dropped form off this morning and got a call from HE this afternoon. They will be out to see him on 31st October. Now that's quick though I'm not holding my breath re his chances of getting a house.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
