As it says in the Title.

I have the opportunity to buy a set of 4 really original Epson ink cartridges (made by Epson themselves) at a good price, £10 a set with free p&p, instead of £30 here in the UK.

The company selling them is based in the USA.

Will there be any region USA software restriction on the ink cartridges chip stopping me using them on a UK/EU printer?

You may perhaps be thinking of DVD region coding?!

I suspect that the number of people who have previously encountered your dilemma is very small, so my guess would be that you should be OK.

PS what does the US selling company say? They should know the answer.

I don't see what difference it makes at the end of the day, the printers are the same, they'll just have a swappable block inside them (done at the factory) to differentiate between 110v and 230v source (and maybe others) - this just stops it going bang if if you feed it 230v when it was expecting 110 and vice versa...

Note that if you them in big enough bulk it will attract import tax - just so you're aware.

    Thanks for your answers.

Neil Jones, looked already into import tax etc. Tax and import free up to £18 from USA.

  • Just one word of warning - you may find that when you print documents that the letter "S" may often get printed as a "Z", and words may lose the letter "U". ;)

Other than that, you should be fine from a technical perspective. Have you established whether this is around the correct general pricing for these cartridges in the US, or are these a lot cheaper than general (even in the US)? Just remembering the old adage that if something seems too good to be true...

Why not just buy good compatible cartridges from a UK supplier?

I use these for my Epson printer.
