Petplan

My parents dog is with pet plan and she had to have a hip replacement. Although the whole operation wasn't fully covered as it reached the limit for the year, she was covered £7000 and they had to pay an extra £2000. My mum seems to be really happy with them so I've gone with them with my puppy.0

Just to add, we used Petplan with our previous German Shepherd dog and found them very good, what did surprise me was that during the last few years of his life he was on expensive tablets and I expected large increases in premium but this was not the case.
Now I am looking to get insurance for our 2yr old GSD but looking at reviews for Petplan most are bad, I can only assume that the only people who do the reviews are people who have had a problem and that those who are happy don't bother. But as I said they were fair to us before so I will most likely use them again in spite of the poor reviews.
Look at what the complaints are for. Mostly , they are where people haven't read the policy documents properly and assumed they were covered when they weren't.
Pre existing conditions catch a lot of people out as Petplan do apply this strictly. Anything you have consulted your vet about , whether they prescribed treatment, is excluded ,as is anything that might be related to that condition.0 -
Another positive vote for Petplan.
They did refuse one of my claims (I think I've claimed twice), as my cat was suffering from a UTI before he was insured. The condition I was claiming for however was completely unrelated - he was put to sleep due to having a disease called FIP. I phoned Petplan explaining that I wasn't happy since I believed the UTI was a completely separate condition. They told me they would be happy to accept the claim if my vet could confirm this. They did and Petplan paid up!Mortgage started 2015: £150,000 2016: £130,000 2017: £116,000 2018: £105,000 2019: £88,000 2020: £69,000 2021: £51,195 2023: MORTGAGE FREE!0
