How far beyond double yellow line an you park?

Not really sure if this has been covered before. And I'm just curious.
If you have double yellow lines then say a grass verge or pavement then beyond that is a grassy area. Can you park on the grassy area? In other words how far does the double yellow line jurisdiction apply?
Is this stated anywhere in law?

No you can't park there except to load/unload, or with a Blue Badge, or to stop to pick up or drop off a passenger.

However, all the usual DYL exemptions apply...unless this is a borough of London - or other Council - which has special enforcement rules to also forbid any verge/pavement parking at all. So parking and leaving the car is a no-no unless you are a BB Holder for 3 hours max (not in a Special Enforcement area).

DYLs apply from property boundary to boundary (i.e. fence to fence, or building to building). So any verge or pavement or grassy knoll reached across a verge/pavement but not within a property boundary/private land, is also restricted by the DYL.

Yes it is stated somewhere, but I know it is true, having been a long-term pepipoo forumite.
