Repointing Walls 3bed house :

I had a building survey report done, house was fine apart from two walls that need Repointing . . . its a 1960s 3bed house,


What do i need to know about repointing & where does one go to avoid the repointing cowboys, would it put you off buying a house with repoint issues . . .

  • Our house needs repointing but it isn’t cheap as quite a long dull job, so it’s not high up on jobs on our house this year. If that’s the worse thing on your survey that’s good tho!

    Our house is Victorian (1904). Our survey when we moved in 18 years ago recommended repointing - we still haven't done it! No problems with any penetrating damp etc

    Do you actually know what "repointing" means? It doesn't sound it.

    The pointing is the line of mortar visible between the bricks. It helps to weather-proof the brickwork, and erodes and flakes over time. It's not hard to replace, even DIY, but it is slow.
