I think some people are prepared to pay for the plastic bags whatever they cost! When they brought the plastic bag tax in in ROI sales dropped almost immediately 'cos folk weren't prepared to pay a government tax! Doesn't seem to have happened here.

I have 'released' several perfectly good 'bags for life' from the rubbish bin by the bottle bank as well as 2 x Morrison's stronger bags in the last couple of weeks. They all got washed and dried and I am using them.

    This is a throwaway society.

Most bin liners and refuse sacks are made from plastic, and are not biodegradable. Not should they be. We should be reducing the amount of biodegradable waste we send to landfill. When biodegradable materials decompose anaerobically they produce methane, which as a greenhouse gas is four times worse than CO2.

Biodegradable rubbish bags should be used for waste that is being sent for composting; kitchen or garden waste.

I have there excuse is the 5p bags which are now thicker as you paying for them are not biodegradable ai they dont want them in the bin but you can recycle them can see more councils in the future doing the same

Our rubbish goes to an incinerator which generates electricity not landfill so I don't think it will happen here.....
