Sky "loyalty" package

What is the real value of this?
A prize draw for sports tickets? I.e. a lottery.
A prize draw to film preview? I.e. a lottery.
A free set-up for Sky Q but no value if you have it already.
Access to a Channel called Sky Atlantic.
Priority for service access which you should be getting anyway.
+15 years of service, termed "Black" would qualify for this package.
It would be nice to bypass all of the hagglings and for the loyal just to get a flat percentage discount without all of the contrived rubbish.
It is probably better not to join the scheme since it may amount to a loss of bargaining power.

I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Not in my experience. Although I have only used it to get the free Sky Store film when it was launched, it didn't prevent me getting a continuation of my 60% discount come renewal time.Sterlingtimes wrote: »It would be nice to bypass all of the hagglings and for the loyal just to get a flat percentage discount without all of the contrived rubbish.
Businesses show us as much loyalty as we show them. There is none from either side. If we were loyal, we wouldn't even think about asking for a discount. After all, we are loyal to the business!
And as a businesses main purpose is to generate profit, they are not going to proactively offer people discounts when they can get more money out of them.
Although having said that, Sky did (do?) seem to be proactive in preventing the haggling recently by offering people the same discount for another 12 months with no contact required.0 -

Small or not, it's still a shift in their usual tactics.
Out of interest, what % percentage of customers got this offer? And what was the qualifying criteria?0 -

Ah ok. I just assumed as you said it was 'a very small subset of customers' that you may have had some inside knowledge.
So it could actually be the start of a major shift in Sky's retention policy then rather than just for a select few?0 -
I posted on another Sky thread that Retentions told me their new goal is to get all customers paying full price and offer football and event tickets etc as a reward.
I am not familiar with the loyalty programme mentioned by the OP but they told me about VIP which offers these kind of benefits to those paying full price.
Personally, I would prefer to negotiate a price I consider to be value for money for the services I want and use the savings as I see fit.
There is no question that when Sky expect me to pay the full price I will leave and not return. I like the package I receive but my personal opinion is that full price is far in excess of what I believe is value for money.0 -

That might be their goal (and it probably always has been in truth for the most part, hence the best offers coming after cut off) but it doesn't have to mean the end to offers as is evidenced by the 2 lengthy Sky retention threads on here.I am not familiar with the loyalty programme mentioned by the OP but they told me about VIP which offers these kind of benefits to those paying full price.
It's not restricted to those paying full price. It's open to everyone with a Sky product.
It's not amazing, and certainly not a reason to choose Sky over another provider, but as long as it continues to have no effect on my discount I can't see it's a bad thing.0 -

The threads go back a long way and the best offer since about last September has been 50% and possibly a small credit.
Until recently, the best offers came after actual switch off, but that has now changed,a number, including me, were initially offered 50% which dropped to 30% ,before swtch off and until a while after cutoff. I now have no offers, except a request to enquire by phone.0 -
I wonder if Sky are losing more customers than usual, as a number of people have been switched off,to await a good offer (with little confidence),but have not reported back about a success.0

I'm basing it on posts here, as very few have had the offer compared to many more who haven't including long term customers.
I've been with them 10 years myself and never received the extension offer on my 60% off. After much haggling I finally got 50% plus £25 credit on a rolling monthly contract and if it wasn't for the wife wouldn't have bothered with that either. So it could actually be the start of a major shift in Sky's retention policy then rather than just for a select few?
Come back in 12 months and we may know more, my feeling is still that it's a PR exercise much like their VIP loyalty program rubbish. Would the VIP 'extras' make you sign back up to Sky or a decent deal with much less hassle to get the deal in the first place?0
