Gas fireplace in bedroom

Can soemone answer a Corgi related question for me?

We've had gas fireplaces fitted by our local fireplace shop (lounge and bedroom). There were never gas fires there before and I planned on getting my regular plumber to sort out running pipework and connecting them in the process when he did some planned work a few months later.
However now my plumber tells me that you're not allowed to have gas fireplaces in a bedroom so he can't connect them.
Can anyone confirm if this is the case? If it isn't allowed there's going to be a hell of fight brewing with the fireplace shop as they neglected to mention this when taking our money and we would have done something completely different and a lot cheaper if we could only have decorative non-functioning fireplaces.

Thanks
K

afaik, there is no mention of a specific ban on gas fires in bedrooms. there are other safety measures to put in place. ie air bricks etc...
you need to check the full regs, online etc...
    try here to start with.

    Hi

Gas safety regs 1998, Room sealed appliances, Reg 30.( The same wording as Ormus's 1994 Regs)

    http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si1998/98245104.htm#30

Fitting an atmospheric sensing device (,A.S.D.) or oxygen depletion device (O.D.D.)
will get you a gas fire in a bedroom.

Also get a CO detector. Personally I wouldn't have one in a bedroom.
Did you not mention it was for a bedroom in the fire shop?

Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)

    Thanks guys
Mt GF was having panic attacks after being told no way by the Corgi guy. Seems a bit odd as he said he would check on the regs and then came back and said no. Bizarre

    Cheers

i agree entirely with mr canucklehead. i wouldnt put one in a bedroom unless it was a studio flat and there was no other way of heating.
even with all the extra safety alarms/devices.
