Only recently found out about inheritance

Hello, I received a letter recently from a bank stating I had been left £500 from my grandfathers will, he past away 15 years ago. All of the money was paid out 15 years ago as the bank didn’t say they had a will. Only Recently a will was found by the bank stating as a grandchild I should inherit £500. As all the money was paid out to other relatives the bank has said as it’s their mistake they will honour the £500 plus interest. To get the money I have to sign a form saying this will settle any claims and close the case. Does this seem fair?

If your grandad passed away last week you would get 500 pounds. You will get 500 pounds so yes it's fair. Actually more than fair as you will get interest, too0

Yes, of course. What else would you expect?Member #14 of SKI-ers club

What are the bank offering to the other beneficiaries? Presumably the estate was treated as intestate. It is fair for them to pay you but they may owe others as well.Hello, I received a letter recently from a bank stating I had been left £500 from my grandfathers will, he past away 15 years ago. I struggle to see why you need to ask if its fair.
If you had got the money years ago it would bre well gone by now so now youve got extra as in interest... Enjoymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
How much interest was paid? I believe the standard where banks have made mistakes is 8% simple interest. so after 15 years your £500 should be about £1,100 now0
