GE Money direct debit not taken

I'm not sure if it's just me, but has anyone else with a GE Money card not had their direct debit taken this month?

They're normally quite keen to get their money, so seems a bit odd.

  • No money taken from my bank, but logging into gemoney shows it has been taken.

    Strange

Mine looks the same, but checking last month's - it didn't show on my current account until 3 working days after GE Money statement said "taken".

Mine says "taken" on 12th Oct, so should appear on my bank statement tomorrow.

I had some messaging with them in August (when my DD was set up) and again last month.

In Aug the DD date on the website showed as about a week later than the bill's 'pay by' date. I queried this and they just said this was normal as the banking system isn't instant. I knew that (!) but had assumed they would need to take the money from my account before it hit theirs. As it happened, nothing happened in August at all, as they seemed to have set it up wrong.

Then similar dates showed in September, so I messaged again, to be told there was no problem. And, sure enough, the money did show as hitting my GE Money account on the due date, and taken from my bank about three days later (though not the week later shown on the website).

I have no idea how this works but am happy that I am paying my bill on time several days before the money leaves my bank! I'm sure if they advertised this, everyone would go for DD.

Is this another reason why they can't afford to keep the card going?

Thanks for your replies folks - much appreciated.

It does seem odd, especially as mine has generally shown as being gone from my current account in the past on the day, and if not, then the following one... I suppose it's only 2-3 working days depending on how it's counted.

Unable to log into GE Money as I could never remember what the original password was, and though it wasn't worth the faff sorting out as the card is going next month anyway.

    Thanks again.

They never take it on the day specified in the statement, it's always several days later.
