£460 To put a radiator In ......

I have the above quote for a 300x1600 radiator in my bungalow's conservatory - i'll get 2 other quotes but wondered if forumites thought this was fair quote.
(Pipe's will be run through the loft and then down into it).

You shouldn’t be putting radiators in your conservatory unless you fancy calling out Building Control to have your conservatory assessed as an extension!

Heating systems should not be extended into conservatories without approval. It will raise the expected quality of the structure.

I know this is the "letter of the law", but in reality how would they know, and how much would they really care?

We bought our house in 2010 with a radiator already fitted in the conservatory, nothing was raised by either the survey or the solicitors even though it was listed in the property description.

Ours had a lock-off TRV, so we only turned it on if we were planning to have an event in cold weather, say a birthday party with lots of guests, in which case we turned it on a couple of hours beforehand to get everything toasty and switched it off again when everything was over.

OP, the price really depends on how much pipework is needed as this will dictate both the labor and the material costs (especially if the proposed pipework is copper)

You have to allow a days work, plus materials, so that price isn't unrealistic.

We've been quoted £260 for a replacement radiator of a similar size where the pipes are already in place, so that doesn't sound too bad including pipework.

Quite a bit of pipework needed and sounds like it includes the radiator . not a bad price to be fair

Just this minute paid £75 to have an extra radiator fitted in dormer bedroom, 24 foot copper pipe and labour. We got the radiator.

did they lift the boards and replace. Drain down etc for that price . very good price for a new rad fitted even if it is just a running pipe along the skirt that's still good TBF

My suggestion would be to look at a heat pump a/c unit. That's far easier to install, it'll be cheaper to run in the long term (because you only use it when you need it, rather than when your main CH is on).

It's potentially a DIY job if your feeling brave.

Paying 500 quid for a single rad is insane imho
