How do I cancel my ESA & PIP?

Hi guys

I would like to cancel my ESA claim. My reward letter says it is awarded up until January 2018. I haven’t received a letter for. A medical yet but it’s stressing me waiting for the brown envelope. I am 100% not putting my self through another medical as I found it so stressful and it made me really ill, so I’d rather just cancel and not have to worry about it. How do I do this?

I am guessing that my Pip (awarded to 2021) will be effected by me closing my ESA claim? So I would rather cancel it rather than wait for them to tell me they’re cancelling it - how do I do this?

I still live at home with parents luckily so financially I should be okay!

Thank you

Why cancel your ESA? If you haven't had another ESA50 form yet then leave it at least until you have the form. If you still feel the same way then, then cancel it. There's disability advice centres that can help with the form etc.

If you did want to cancel it, then it won't affect your PIP claim. ESA and PIP are different benefits.

As poppy says your PIP is not affected by your ESA stopping.
They are different benefits with different criteria.

Normally a claimant would end an ESA claim due to an improvement in their health which enables them to (re)start a job.
Stopping a claim because of the fear and stress of a medical, would not indicate to me that your health has improved and you are fit for work.

    Do give this careful thought.
Because you are supported by your parents, the consequences of a flawed DWP decision is not as critical as it would be if you did not have that support.
Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.
  • Why not phone up and ask when your ESA expires? could be they have just extended it without input from you.

OP - my reward letter for ESA doesn't mention expiry date. Is this is new thing?
