Tax on Marriott hotel booking

Hi,
I've booked a room at the Heathrown Marriott for this weekend using clubcard vouchers. When the reminder email came through this weekend, it mentioned the room rate (£99), then added tax of nearly £18. This tax wasn't mentioned when booking. Also, have used Marriotts previously and never paid it, also have a booking for next month and the email confirmation says 'tax included in room rate'.
Have emailed Marriott twice, but they seem to be avoiding answering my question very well! Will be ringing up soon to see what is going on.
Does anyone else have this experience - is it a 'tourist' tax on London hotels or something. Now starting to feel a bit ripped off  as need to pay parking as well, so cost will be over £30 more than the actual 'room rate'.
Thanks

The rates for Marriott group hotels in London are always quoted without the VAT. However, when completing the reservation, it always shows the full price inclusive of VAT before you click 'Confirm'.
*EDIT*
Sorry, just noticed the bit about Clubcard deals so I guess you booked over the phone? The reservations agent should have quoted you the full and final price before you confirmed. This space has been intentionally left blank0
