Abroad Call shown on the 'International Call Checker' show their rate for calling the USA as .5p per minute.
Trouble is, whenever I try to call a number in the US, I get a message saying the number isn't available with this service!!
Have been using 18866 for some time where it's 2p per min so was looking forward to even cheaper calls.

There's one other gateway provider and 18185 charging ½p/minute to the USA on the MSE International Callchecker.
I'd recommend 18185 because there's no charge if the number you're calling doesn't answer or is engaged whereas the 0844 gateway numbers attract a charge before you've even entered your (USA) target number.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
