OP I feel like you really need to think about your situation differently. You came to England for better work opportunities and you have been very lucky indeed to land on your feet very quickly. You have rented a house without a deposit it seems, without a bank account and without a history in the UK, and have found a job that will pay you in cash whilst you sort out your bank issues.
I am assuming you have a national insurance number, as it is illegal to work without one. With that in mind there are thousands of unskilled jobs in London (especially as delivery drivers, couriers, agency work etc) of which im sure you will find some willing to pay cash. But the real issue here is you are getting annoyed at others for not fixing your situation for you.
You were the one who traveled to a new country, with English as a second language and no apparent family or friendly connections, nor savings to support you. Your current situation is entirely predictable, and only you have the tools and knowledge to get you out of it. I would suggest borrowing money from family and friends, or negotiating with your landlord/work as others previously mentioned. I think you should also take a big breath to appreciate how lucky you have been to make it so far without planning. I say this as a fellow immigrant who saved for more than a year to come here, and has worked very hard to build a life up in the UK over the past 2 years. If you want to live in this country and make it the opportunity you say you want it to be, then it's time to start being responsible.0 -
Lildoonbuggy - it is in no way illegal to work without an NI number!
Please don't spread false information. When a person comes to the UK it can take weeks to get an appt with HMRC to get their NI number. So long as they have a valid right to work, based on the rules laid out by the home office, they are fully entitled to work while waiting on their application being processed.0 -
You apply with jobcenter plus for NINo, not HMRC. And while you can working while waiting for it to processed, you must apply before taking employment, which usually takes only matter of days, not weeks. If it takes weeks in local JCP, use a different one.Lildoonbuggy - it is in no way illegal to work without an NI number!

Calm your beans CM. I don't see how that's misleading whatsoever - the national insurance number is used for tax purposes and given the OPs spurious remarks, some now kindly removed, I wanted to make clear that untaxed cash in hand work is illegal. Anyone doing the right thing and taking the right steps will be under no illusions around what they can and can't do whilst waiting on their number.0
