How many money bags do banks (HSBC specific) allow at once?

£200 in £2 coins
£25 in 20ps & 50ps
12 bags
I remember years and years ago Nationwide only allowed 5 bags at one time. May still be the same for them but wondered if anyone knew the limit with HSBC these days.
It's actually for First Direct but i'm assuming you can pay in to HSBC no problem?

I am not sure, but many of the banks are putting a limit of 5 bags on their coin deposits.
If your HSBC has a coin drop it wont matter no need worry as you just chuck it all in the machine.

The coin counting machines in bank branches that have them are free of charge to use unlike those in supermarkets etc.0

No you are thinking of the coin star machines which takes 10% of your money.
The coin counters in HSBC is just that counts your coins and pays it into your HSBC account. Not sure if you have to go to counter after with the receipt like you do in Natwest, but you keep all of your money.
Worth knowing not all HSBC branches have coin deposit machines so you may end up paying in via the counter.

HSBC counters are unlimited amounts of coin for deposit or exchange (if you have an account with them).urs sinserly,

First Direct or HSBC no difference re paying in.
Just don't mix your coins and also keep any old £1 separate.
The main banks are used to handling large amounts of coin - its the Building Societies who don't like much in the way of coin and often have a 5 bag limit.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Halifax and Santander still count as "building societies" for this purpose.
HSBC, Lloyds, TSB, Barclays, Natwest, all more or less unlimited bags and loose coins ok too. (A very small TSB branch once told me max 25 bags as all their storage was full.)
Halifax: once refused to accept my UK coins in Irish bags (as I had run out of UK bags), so I asked them to give me some UK bags and I would move them over; they had no bags, so refused the deposit entirely. (Complained: £50 compensation given.) Another branch made a big song and dance about how they were now accepting 10 bags per customer - this was in 2015.
Santander: had 81 pound coins, they took the 4 bags of £20 but refused to accept the single left over pound. Similar incident in a different branch too, so I just don't bother using them for coins any more.0 -

You don't need to go to the counter in HSBC after using the machines - any money is automatically credited to the relevant HSBC/FD account.0 -
Just for reference should anyone stumble across this thread...
they (HSBC/First Direct) accepted the whole lot. No limit. Well, i guess there may be if you turn up with 1000s of bags but they accepted all those mentioned in this thread0 -
