It will probably depend on how up to date your copy of XP has been kept. If it has all of the Service Packs and updates up until MS stopped supporting it, you should not need any extra software at all.

When you plug the Walkman into your PC it ~should~ appear as a storage device, and you should simply be able to copy and paste MP3 files from wherever they are stored on the PC into the right place on the Walkman.

If it doesn't then it may be that the Walkman is set up to appear as a Media Player device when you plug it into the computer (and XP may not understand a device like that). If so, check the settings in the Walkman and you'll probably find one that changes it to appear on its USB interface as a storage device.

In addition to what fwor has just posted, if you can't just copy & paste, and can't figure out how to get it to show as a storage device on your PC, you could alternatively try using Windows Media Player, as it should work similarly to Music Centre for PC.

I had a quick look, and Sony also provide "Media Go", which does the same thing as "Music Center for PC", but also copies videos as photos rather than just music.

The Japanese support page provides a link and says the software will work on XP and later. However, when you change your region to "English" it says it only supports Vista upwards and that Media Go will no longer be available for download after December 2017 (although it's still available now).

Maybe worth a look, if you're quick:

My Sony Walkman is a few years old now (so things may have changed), but it works fine with MediaMonkey on XP.

I used to have a Sony Network Walkman, an NW-HD3 I think. If I remember right you only needed their rather ropey software if you wanted to use their ridiculous ATRAC format. Which you never would.
