Mysterious damp patches

Hi everyone,

This is the first time I’ve ever posted something like this and I’m not hugely clued up on building/roofing etc so please excuse me if I’m not using any terms correctly!

Basically, we have been renting our house for the past 3 years, it’s a terrace which is about 100 years old approx. And built of brick. We have been experiencing a problem with 2 damp patches in the front bedroom since about 6 months into our tenancy. The landlord has been great in that he’s sent out builders who have pointed the brickwork in that area, sent out roofers who have double checked the roof and replaced broken slates, and as there was also a problem with condensation and mound he has installed a PIV unit which has completely got rid of that problem. After the PIV unit was installed the damp patches (one at the top near the ceiling and one in the centre of the wall in the corner underneath the other one) dried up and cracks appeared in the wall where it was drying. This was in November, this evening I’ve come upstairs and both damp patches are back and worse than I’ve ever seen them! It’s not rained today so I don’t think it is a leak, but there is condensation on the window. I’ve emailed the landlord to tell him (with photos) but I’m at a loss as to what else he can do, other than what he has already done. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? And how it could be remedied, I really want to decorate in here but can’t due to this, and beside that it looks a complete mess it has made all the paint blister and go powdery and some of the plaster is now showing through.

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

A roofer needs to attend and get into the loft. Did any roofers go in the loft last time or just replace a few tiles?

If it has been raining previously, it could have just soaked through.

    Is the PIV still working?
