No Balance Transfer Fee

MBNA have a banner on their homepage www.mbna.co.uk advertising a "no fee balance transfer offer". This appears to relate to existing customers only (not new applications) and is for TODAY ONLY - it applies at the promotional rate if you have one, otherwise at the standard variable rate.

Comments

  • I saw this ad earlier today - i rang MBNA to enquire and was told by customer services that it applies to balance transfers made using the online banking before midnight tonight.
  • I also rang up Customer Services as I didn't have my credit card with me to register it online and they DID take my balance transfer over the phone. The other benefit is you can transfer money into your current account - it doesn't have to be a balance transfer from another credit card company.
  • Ah well your gonna get charged 3% then as it states clearly that it is applicable to transfers made onlne. I would ring them back and tell them that you will do it yourself online. Save you 3% !!
  • No, when I explained to them I couldn't register my card online they said they would waive the fee.

    Hi,
I've just logged in to my MBNA online but don't see this banner advertising no fee? Maybe because my promotional rate is 0.0% i can't get it for free?

I go through the Balance Transfer request and just get the usual warnings about it being 3% handling fee unless i've been told otherwise?

I'm guessing they won't accept being told otherwise by this forum!? Am I looking in the wrong place?

sorry, ignore that. just read the first post properly and it is on mbna.co.uk
No mention of it when I go through to my login - fingers crossed... Thanks for the post!
  • i have a bmi classic mastercard through mbna, i log on to mbna from their site and I too noticed that advert. Does anyone know if i tranferred £700 (as there is currently £710 left on my £1,000 limit) to my current account. Then transferred it back into my credit account later, would i get my airmiles?

I currently get 1.5 air miles for every £ spent.

    Cheers!
  • Good spot.

Its not on the site anymore and customer services are having nothing to do with it, saying its the usual 3% and they can't check what was on the site until 10am tomorrow!? Fishy...
