Hot water not hot out of mixers to bath

Hello

I have recently had my flat renovated and have had a new shower with mixer taps put in.

The water from the kitchen tap is really hot however the water to the bath and shower is warm but not as hot as i would like,

The combi boiler is 3 years old so no issues with that.

I have been told that a. mixers do ensure that no really hot water comes out the taps but it should definately be hotter than it is (i have used them before and this is the case)

I have also been told that the boiler is in affect to powerful for what is needed in the flat and this can be the outcome as the mixers decrease the sort of power from the boiler therefore cooling the water.

There must be a way to get the water hotter. We have tried turning the hot water dial on the boiler from max down a little as was told this could work , but unfortuately not.

Does anyone have any advice, so i can have a hot bath and shower!

I would not think the boiler power has anything to do with it! Too hot a feed can cause the thermostatic control to oscillate between hot and cold but not likely (a question below should clarify).......no answers here but lots of questions to help diagnose!

Can you describe a bit more what sort of mixer you have? Is it a mixer that just controls the shower or does it temperature control and mix both shower and bath?
What is the water flow like? Good and powerfully or a bit weak? If there is a nearby sink in your bathroom compare the flow of each. (I am wondering here if the flow to bath/shower on the hot pipe is a bit reduced and thus not providing enough hot water to keep the mix elevated enough).
Is the water flow consistent at the (albeit low) delivered temperature or does it vary between warm and cool cyclically (i.e. alternates frequently between hot and cold during showering/filling) whilst in use?
Mixers usually have a limiter at 38 degrees C (usually hot enough for a shower) but can be overridden by pressing a red button to select a higher temperature. Can you do this and what effect does it have?
Flow rates and pressure on hot and cold feeds need to be similar. What did you have fitted before the 'upgrade' and was that working ok?

However and probably most importantly get back in touch with the landlord / agent (if rented property) or contracted installer (if it is your owned flat) to tell them it is not satisfactory. Perhaps best after measuring the temperature, if you can, so as to quantify the poor performance, and do not pay up till you are happy. They should be given the opportunity to see/feel the problem for themselves!

The mixer controls the bath and shower. There is a middle control which you can choose the bath or the shower. Then a control either side one for bath one for shower which controls the temperature for that.

The water flow is fine - not massively powerful but no complaint on that front.
There is 2 sinks nearby - maybe the flow is indeed then reduced to the bath/shower, therefore not sending enough hot to it.

Water flow is consistent, it doesnt fluctuate.

We have no red button to select a higher temperature.

We have asked the fitters a couple of times and they think it is fine, and say that the mixer is just designed to not allow too hot a water temperature to flow.
I think our idea of hot is different to his!

Thanks i will ask them again noting what you have said, otherwise i guess i will have to get a plumber out as we have tried everything that we can see possible to try

Do you have a thermometer so that you can measure the temperature? If not there are some very cheap ones available such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/10-110%C2%B0C-pocket-dial-thermometer/dp/B01A8NOSM4/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1515268629&sr=1-1

You will then be able to see the temperature and not subjectively. You can test it is ok at freezing point, your body temperature and boiling point to give confidence in it's reading! Your hot water outlet should be just above body temperature for the shower - I would like the bath outlet a bit higher- but the settings ensure minimal risk of scalding particularly for the young.

Most mixers have a method to adjust the temperature -in addition to the user control- but being new that is not normally required.
When the bath or shower is running can you touch the hot inlet? If so, with care!, It should be as hot as your kitchen/sink temperature.
