Mini one 1.6 2005 new clutch!
Hello!
Apologies in advance for my lack of knowledge when it comes to cars, but I am a girl, and this is the first time I have had to have a clutch replaced.
So anyway had my clutch changed on Thursday on my Mini one. It is going to need getting used to it but it's great to be able to get up hills again!
Ok so to the point, i got my car back on Thursday around 6. Immediately in second gear i put my foot down to test it out (i did redline it abit). For the rest of that day i drove nicely.
TODAY ! I gave it abit more. I would say good 10 minutes of red lining and fast shifting. I have heard about this glaze effect where the plates heat up too quickly. I am now really worried. Have i caused any damage ?
I did not know about the rule of driving nicely for 500 miles to wear it in.
So, your thoughts !
Thanks

Thoughts!
Redlining, why? No mechanical sympathy, idiotic behaviour. No common sense.0 -
First post from a newbie. This may be a wind up but I will bite :rotfl:
Driving like this is probably why you needed a new clutch."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Ride hard or stay home :iloveyou:0 -
Its probaly on its 5th plus clutch anyway minis are known for eating them personally i wouldnt have a mini if i was given it. The early ones the gearboxes fell to bits as well0

Redlining. Rev counter "red lined" at 6750 by the look of it.
Maximum power at 6000rpm, with a sharp fall off above that looking at the power curves available online (and anyway expected)
So revving for the sake of it. More lost than gained.
Apart from wondering where this race track is of course. . .0 -
Sounds like a wind up to me so will not comment0

Just drive it normally hereon0
