Thanks for the info. They’re definitely no Carer Premium and no carers allowance. They don’t live alone )they’re a couple living together).

I’m confused to the amounts too.

    I thought it might be £498.89 + £318.76 = £817.65 less the ESA Conts. As you don’t get 2x £318.76 under UC.

So since you only get one lot of £318.76 despite both being disabled, so if one started caring for the other, Would they get £498.89 + £318.76 + £126? (Carer Premium) less the ESA conts. Less carers allowance?

Seems like UC only allows one person to be ill in a household!

Suggest you get a full breakdown explained of the ESA IR award, and if it includes ESA Conts for her in there as well. The only way you can get to £388 fortnightly without Carers Allowance would be to have a substantial Transitional Allowance. About £130 TA (per week) ---that is unheard of. Far more likely they are not knocking off the £109.65 husband's ESA C but even that would not explain it all, maybe also a TA of £20

Oh, it could be a pensioner premium, you said both below pension age...but is he of Pension Credit age?

That's what I meant as living alone, they live as a couple...alone IYSWIM.
  • Quick question

We are in a uc area.

Background I uses to get esa contribution based. When that was finishing I got pip enhanced mobility standard care. My husband had to become my carer and claims carers.
The job centre advised him to claim income support and me to not claim esa.
I found out recently I should be claiming esa ni contributions only. So that I get no money bt my ni paid.
As we are now a uc area. Would it be mean that the my hubby would have to migrate to uc or would it be just me.
We also get smi (although that stops march). Child tax credits with disabled element for our son. Child benifit.

    Many thanks
  • Question about transitional protection - if somebody has savings above £16k but is currently receiving tax credits, will they straight away receive nothing when they are migrated to Universal Credit, or is there a gradual reduction to make the sudden drop in income easier?
  • There will be NO transitional protection until managed migrations start probably from 2020
