Can you request discount retrospectively?

Hello,
I bought two pairs of shoes in the Adidas sale online yesterday. The items haven't even been dispatched yet.
Since then, they've knocked another 20% off the price. Now I know I can send them back for free returns within 100 days, but am I able to request they simply apply the discount retrospectively?
Do companies do this?

You can ask and they may give the discount they may not.
Politeness is the key here - I got a discount from Argos once because I was cheeky enough to ask but was polite about it.0 -
Why not order at the reduced price and cancel the original order as it hasn't dispatched yet. Probably easier than trying to deal with customer service.0
