Hi all,
just had my renewel for car insurance £258.64, so I thought I would shop around and went to moneysupermarket site, the cheapest insurance was for £192.62 with esure the only thing I changed was not to have the green flag assistance, so my question is can I renew at the price online if I am an exsisting customer, should I ring them to be requoted on the renewal form they have sent me?
Many thanks
Chrissie

To be honest with you, I wouldn't touch Esure with a barge pole. I used to be insured with them and found that they were totally unhelpful and useless when my car was rear-ended. They did nothing and even threatened to remove my protected no claims bonus for an accident that was not my fault, as a result I still have the damage on my car today.
I changed my insurance and used Confused.com but only because it was the web address that I could remember. I am now with Endsleigh Insurance and pay £137, fully comp with 70% protected no claims. If I had wanted to I could have signed up for their roadside recovery. My renewal from Esure was £290 so you can see that by going to Confused and ultimately using Endsleigh I have saved money, plus the staff are really polite and friendly. Endsleigh started out as purely providing insurance for students but now they will insure student and non-student alike.
I'd say continue to shop around - Esure are now one of the dearest and for what - they just don't want to know when you are involved in accident, they don't do anything to help and their staff are really quite rude.0 -
Hi
Thanks for reply, esure where in fact the cheapest quote, my husband was rear ended last year and had no trouble with them at all, courtesy car and customer service.0 -
I have been with esure for many years now... and each year i don't renew but apply as a NEW customer, as its always been cheaper this way.
i apply online, and where it says 'what is your current provider' i just put 'other'.
When they send the details through the post, they'll ask for your no claims bonus proof... i just send them my old esure paperwork, and they never have any problem with it.
one thing though.. once you are over 70% no claims discount, then each time you start again as a new customer, you still stay at 70%, rather than 71%, 72%, etc. the number of years still goes up, (ie: 9years to 10 years), but the % discount doesn't.
It still works out cheaper for me always being at 70% and a new customer, rather than an existing customer at 71%, 72%, etc.0 -
I changed from Esure to Sheila's Wheels ( same company ) this year as they were very slightly cheaper.
Main reason was the cashback from Quidco which was £35. Why don't you try this? Just now the cashback is £30 for Sheila's Wheels.
