Good luck with your plans. I wouldn't want to live in town after living in the country... I also wonder whether you'd be better renting a shop rather than buying while you test out your idea if you do decide to go down that road. Also seeing lots of town centres flooded - make sure that you don't buy anywhere prone to flooding!

  • Hi Holmes, you are right about renting a shop to test the waters first, hadn't thought of that, thanks. Although, very early days yet, Our town centre is on a hill luckily but there are a few houses down below that were flooded again this year, such a shame but they are used to it and prepared.
So I was going to sign onto the OU bus!ness management degree but next registration is in March for October start. Business management and Business marketing have the same modules in the first 2 years(part time) so I have plenty of time to decide which path to follow. In the mean time I am going to do a few of the free courses. I've started tonight with MSE's academy of money. My thoughts were that it would be easy and I'll know it all but I am enjoying it and learning loads. If anything I would like to improve on my vocabulary before I start writing essays. My vocabulary is very limited, I read lots but don't take in the large/intelligent words to use every day. Reading doesn't help, I need to write more with a thesaurus by my side.
In other news - I won the pCLottery again! £10 again, would quite like the biggie but £10 is good, I need a new smarter coat so this one might not find its way into the sealed pot.

  • Almost finished the ac@deny of money badge this evening but I've been helping dh buy us some b!tc0in so didn't quite finish the shares module. (Which has nothing to do with b!tco!n)  I'm thoroughly enjoying learning and understanding more and so wish I could sign up to my degree now.
Anuway, we've succesfully spent £100 on pretend money from things we both recently sold on ebsy and we're going to transfer half to another d!gital currency tomorrow when we can work out how and aren't so sleepy.
Looking forward to pay day tomorrow and the monthly money/debt/equity/savings roundup.

Tonight I have been mostly learning about crypt0currencies
DH purchased £50 D0ge this morning for us. Magic beans? We're willing to give it a punt, I'll let you know how we get on.

I've been paid, Dh gets paid weekly and hasn't been paid for 2x weeks even though most of it is furlough money from govment, his boss has had a death in the family and is super busy so not pushing but kinda need to be paid for the work he has done (& not done) especially at end of month bills/loan paying time.

Pclotto money came into my account today.

So the monthly roundup will have to wait. A nice text has been sent to get wages.
More hassle at work today but I have 3x days off now to make my prototype, finish my mse ac@demy badge on OU and tidy this house :)

It's difficult times for a lot of people. Hope your DH gets paid soon. Well done on doing the OU course. I started it but haven't finished.

DH being paid in the next 24 hours hopefully.

Tough times indeed! I've been struggling, (haven't we all) so with my three days off I relaxed, tidied & cleaned the clutterous house, watched the last apprentice series & a country life for 1/2 the price series, cracked on with crafting my homeware and on Monday ate a huge fry up and gateaux (edit: not a whole gateaux haha) because that's what I fancied.

My homeware is almost finished, just waiting on another part in the post. The finished product will be better than I'd planned and looking professionally made even though I've crafted, painted, screwed, and dremeled it mostly by myself. I even got to use an electric drill which I haven't done before. Quite impressed with myself (humble me? well I am usually).

We bought some more Doge, £150 worth now & £50 Bitcoin, all from things we've sold on ebsy. I'm not going to endorse this, it's a gamble but just saying I have hope in it, to the moon....

    The Monthly Budget Review
Groceries £238/£200 Perfect, £30 of this is a freezer drawer still full of sausages
    Petrol £121/£120 Sweet!
DH Smokes £108/£80 Jeeez, might be less in Feb, so keep the same
Contingency £133/£100 4x takeaways £65, £32 kettle, £7 gift, £16 window wipers. £80 was spent on small bags of wood which is the least economical thing we could have done but is offset by the £80 kettle refund. We are going to pay £20 a month extra into the bills account to save for a huge decent bulk load of kiln dried logs next winter.

I'm pleased with how January turned out. Yes everything was closed so that stopped us from eating pub grub (oh I would right now if we could!) or driving around for no good reason but still, the budget will stay the same in February.

As soon as DH has been paid (as his wages owe my savings account) I will purchase 10x the parts to make 10x my homeware in three (hmm maybe 4) different colours, then will look at different sizes and uses after that. Might see how my FB friends like it first, it's a bit niche but I think it's awesome. Yay :D

Definitely test out how product will sell before splashing out too much money. Glad your DH's pay will be sorted soon.

  • Still here, still plodding along trying to be kind to myself because life is one big stress at the moment.
I applied for a job on Saturday, local firm, accounts office, maybe it's time to go back. My hands are getting too bad from arthritis, No treatment for a year, had one phone appointment in June and he told me he can't prescribe until we have a face2face appointment and today I got a letter through for another phone appointment !!!!!!! I've put myself on a super strict anti inflammatory diet and exercise regime, it's the only thing I can think of to do, that and get a non physical desk/phone job again. hmmff

  • Gosh, that was mighty negative.
The positives of going back to accounts:
Leave work at work- no constant thinking about it 24/7
Not being called in or to deal with something on my day off
Two whole days off together with DH
I'll be so bored I'll want to cook & craft at home again like before
I won't be so shattered at night so can start a degree/CIMA
Maybe scope for moving around/up in the company depending on what course I do
    No more constant stress
Holidays will be mine, all mine with no phone calls or stress about what is going on without me.
Ok now I feel better :)
