Scottish power cleans out prepayment meters

We just found out Scottish power wiped out over £30 of prepayment gas credit while we were away for 4 days over new year. Initially its a faulty meter....then its a billing fault...then its a gas leak. We know and we've known all along..its a mistake made in favour of Scottish power. Trouble is its January. If this had happened to my elderley mother..my disabled friend then theres every chance that the fraud would go un-noticed. Switching? Yes of course two dual fuel accounts not just one and claiming the missing funds? Definately. Nice way to run a business..shareholders be warned..Customers be warned..Carers of elderley and Disabled customers check..check again...and then probably switch since this leopard despite an entire day of phone calls shows no signs of changing its spots..and as of 6.30pm this evening their tune.

What do you mean by "Scottish power wiped out over £30 of prepayment gas credit "?

You will receive credit for all payments you made. These will be shown on your account statement (yes you get them even with a PPM ;))
If any credits are missing, then if you provide proof (e.g. a receipt, bank transfer, etc) then I'm sure the supplier will look into where the money has gone.

Your statement will also account for usage according to your tariff, including daily standing charges ;)

Follow the supplier complaint procedure if you feel cause to complain.

    Good luck!

Whilst you are away the meter will continue taking off credit to pay both standing charges and any weekly debts which are set on the meter.
On the prepay gas meter debt is set on screens 26 and 27 if you would like to check
.£30 quid could be eaten up by standing charge owed and debts
Now that Scot Power are not allowed to charge for switching to a credit meter , why don`t you start the new year off with a money saving exercise in saving you up to approx 20% off your bills by dumping the inconvenient prepay meter?
  • I must check my current SP tariff, Oh no it runs out Decemebr this year! I am being ripped off as I have only been saving on it since October 2016! Surely they cannot do this!

Oh, and OP get off the expensive coin box meters and get credit meters. You have lost half of what I pay a month in just over 4 days!
