Baxi warranty reduced from 10 years to 5

Hi, hoping someone out there can help...
I moved house in November and had a new Baxi boiler installed by a Gas Safe installer. Due to difficulty trying to register the warranty online, I registered the 10 year warranty by post using a registration card which was provided with the boiler. I kept a copy of the registration card before I posted it.
I posted the card on 28/11/17 and heard nothing back. I phoned Baxi today to check that they had received the warranty card and they confirmed they had received it and that I was covered for 5 years. When I advised that I had a 10 year warranty with the boiler, they said that as I had not registered the warranty online, I was only covered for 5 years!
I can see nothing about this on the copy of the warranty card that I kept and I can't see anything in their terms & conditions online.
Has anyone heard of or experienced this?
Many thanks

Where did it state 10 years? Did the card state you could register online or by post?
Are the terms of the warranty actually stated on the card? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
It looks like the extended 10 year warranty is for trade and has to be done online by the Gas safe installer. The 5 year warranty seems to be the standard one.

Yes, our Baxi is three years old and was resisted by the installer. We have a ten year warranty and every year when it requires a service Baxi send us a reminder with the installers contact details on the card.0 -
This page referring to the Platinum Combi boiler states for 10 years warranty it must be registered online by the Gas Safe installer.
That may explain why you had difficulty registering it online.

Thanks for the replies
The warranty card provides the address of the website to register the warranty or alternatively to complete and return the card to address shown.
The card does not state the length of the warranty, but their website does state a 10 year warranty for the type of boiler I bought.
I've called Baxi twice, the first guy said if I had registered the warranty myself online (instead of completing the card) I'd have got a 10 year warranty. He also said I'd be able to get my installer to phone in and re-register (he said installers now get 90 days to register) and I'd get the 10 year warranty. I rang back and spoke to someone else who said, no the installer would not be able to re-register as registration was already complete.
I have asked my installer to call them.

I have asked my installer to call them to try and sort it out. Just doesn't seem right that if I register it myself, I only get 5 years, but if the installer does it, it's 10 years.
it is a promotional offer to installers who sign up with them.0 -

I'm not entirely sure if this is the case - I edited the post you've replied to as they said that if I had registered it myself online, I would have got the 10 year warranty - it seems the issue is with completing the warranty card.
I have asked the guy who installed my boiler to give them a call to try and sort it as I've been told 2 different things by 2 different people at Baxi.
Hoping they will honour the 10 year warranty as that was the reason I opted for the boiler in the first place.
Thanks for your advice.0
