Don't know whereabouts you live'Mccullogh29' but where I volunteer none of us are well heeled ladies who lunch. There is a good cross section of society, those who have retired and want to give something back or who are lonely, unemployed, students. We do have a wide range of clothing and goods, some designer and some good old primarnie and we are well aware of the major brand names. I think it all depends on who is running the shop. In our town BHF charge 1.00 or 1.50 for books. A new BHF opened nearby and were charging 2.00 and 2.50. Needless to say their books aren't selling well.....
On a lighter note I picked up a beautiful pale grey skirt made by Betty Barclay. I really like her range of clothes. It was only 3.99, the down side is that it is dry clean only but I am sure I can get around that!0 -

:j Does happy dance.
Have sourced a pair of black shoes to replace my 95% worn out ones, which are going through at the sole: Cl@rks for £8.
Plus a replacement for my everyday light rain-jacket, which sees use for three seasons of the year and is wearing out: £7.95. This is a Liddly brand so wouldn't have been expensive new, but is apparently unworn and I'm pretty pleased with it.
Also got a nice lumberjack shirt for kid bruv for £2.99.
Glad to have got replacements lined up for things which are used almost every day and are on their last legs. Winning!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Prejudices die hard...
I understand that buying quality can be of benefit to buy stuff that lasts but I don't understand the label slaves who won't buy things they like because of where it's from. Most clothes are made in far-east sweat shops anyway regardless of cost!“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Well, did 13 charity shops yesterday in the 'city'.
Saw a few things that might have interested me if it hadn't been for the price.
I did buy a mustard jersey top (label says 'gold') - M&S Autograph Weekend - with lovely detailing that will go great with my oft-mentionedpatterned leggings.
Quite pricey (imho) at £4.79 but still with the paper inspection circle on the care label.
I dallied with a New Look maroon/grey/black tartan short-sleeved shift dress with patch pockets in Oxfam but put it on the 'think about it later' list at £5.99.
Then I saw a similar style dress with 3/4 sleeves in a fab quality black & grey marl.
More expensive at £6.99  but much better quality and fits perfectly and will go with my new Moda in Pelle grey suede ankle boots (bought in the sale for £16.16 with promotion code - like these but dark grey)

No brand label on the dress at all, care label shows little sign of washing, doesn't look like a UK make.
I was in BHF and listening to a conversation between someone in charge and a volunteer.
The 'manager' was asking the volunteer - a lady probably in her 60s - if she could work tomorrow (today). It was clear that the poor lady didn't really want to commit but was coerced into saying she would go in.
I felt like jumping in and saying 'FGS, can't you see she wants to say 'no' to you'.
The lady served me with the M&S top and she was so sweet.0 -

Wow, what a bargain....sixteen squids for boots that originally cost £129 and not even from a chazza!!:j Does happy dance.

Can I join you in the happy shoe dance? :j:j
Been looking for a pair of smart, walkable in, tan leather sandals for nearly two years. So useful in summer or on hols as the colour goes with owt and can be worn morning noon and night. My last pair fell to bits after walking round the killing fields in Cambodia in a Monsoon (don't ask!). Yesterday, in the community shop they had a b/n pair of Clarks that fitted both the spec and my feet. Priced at £6 but currently on sale in the Clarks clearance shop at £39.99 and originally £59.99. So pleased!0 -

Unfortunately (for OH's credit card) in looking for a photo of said boots, I found ones in my size at House of Frazer for £19.95 - not quite as great a deal as my grey ones but still £110 off  and am currently wondering whether to splurge on the black ones.
Fab Clarks sandal bargain. :T
And even more so because they're something you've been looking for.
I've recently rediscovered Clarks footwear.0 -

I've bought quite a bit from chazzers lately - not updated my expenditure tracker lately so am listing my finds from memory.
From my favourite old hospice haunt, a lovely warm knitted tunic jumper and fully lined smart jacket in a pastel pink - the kind of thing Kate Middleton wears - for my niece, at 50p each. (She looks super-cute in both). Also a plastic Baileys shaker, to get the perfect Baileys:ice ratio for just 10p. From the same chazzer in the next town I bought a big mug in perfect condition for 50p, and a glass for my niece for 25p, Again it was in perfect condition, and featured a cartoon of a girl jumping into a "muddy puddle" so I just couldn't resist. From the next, a book for £1, and some 90" curtains for £8. They weren't lined, but perfect for their intended use. Lastly, a pair of stunning and very heavy lined silk curtains for £20.
Yesterday, another pair of 90" fully lined curtains for £4, a Wallis summer blouse, Per Una Work blouse and a chunky knit jumper for £1 each. Finally a bundle of 3 books for 99p, very happy daysValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
