  • We had a cream dual fuel Rangemaster Elan 110 for twelve years and absolutely loved it. Being shiny enamel, the gas hob/rings were the easiest to clean out of any we looked at - previously we had a smaller (90cm) Rangemaster, possibly the Classic, but that had horrid non-shiny gas hob/rings to which everything stuck like !!!! to a blanket

We were so happy with the Rangemaster Elan that when we bought our next house that had oil heating/no gas, we purchased the all electric (not induction) model. Again the hob was super easy to clean, but despite having the whole house rewired we found that increasing the temperature of either oven to anything over 180 degrees caused the rcd to trip.

Not having glass doors was only an issue when cooking yorkshire puds/souffles, lol!

Imho, the Rangemaster - or at least the Elan - looks more solidly built/better quality than some of the slightly cheaper makes.

Currently we're looking at the Bertazzoni Professional range, but that's probably more than the OP is looking to spend, although occasionally second hand bargains can be found if you're prepared to be patient.......

In our last 5 homes,we move around a lot,we have always had and sold with the property, the Rangemaster900. gas top 2 electric ovens. never had any problems and in our next move, imminent, my wife would like the same again.Yes,I do use it as well. One in France we used off bottled gas with no problems.
  • Do NOT make the mistake we did and buy a Rangemaster induction. Less than three years of use and it has packed up and Rangemaster refuse to assist. It seems it’s a common problem with Rangemaster inductions and they don’t have anyone near London who can help even if you’re willing to pay. I would actually warn you off buying anything from AGA Rangemaster - the service has been so dreadful. I would also say no matter what you pay take no reassurance on a high price and buy the extended warranty if available.

We did buy a Stoves range oven in the end and have been very impressed with it.

    Excellent quality for the price

Does anyone have any experience with Belling or Stoves cookers? These seem to be around the 'mid range' price point as well.

We have a Belling 90dft cookcentre and cannot fault it. The only thing I would like that it doesn't have is a self cleaning function, otherwise I would recommend it. Ours is dual fuel but they do similar all electric ones

We have a Stoves Richmond 1100 induction range cooker which is 10 years old and although I noticed that the induction hob takes longer than my Mum's (which is much newer) to heat up, it has always been fine. However the hob has now broken and I am horrified to find that it can't be mended as they no longer make the pods to replace them with. I think that is appalling and a terrible example of built in obsolescence.
