Need new ECU for 2011 Polo

Desperately in need of help.
I have a 2011 polo, absolutely no problems until a couple of months ago faults where coming up on my dash, car lost all power and went into limp mode. All the sensors that came up in the diagnostics pointed to needing a new cam belt, this is something I went ahead and had changed. My mechanic said he checked all sensors and couldnt see a problem, it was previously thought it might have 'jumped' but it had not. After new cam belt all of the faults still remained so mechanic removed the codes and car ran fine, he said if there was any problems to bring the car back.
For about 2months the car had absolutely no problems, last month all of the snow hit the midlands during the snow I could not fault the car. About a week after got in my car started straight away no problem, then as driving it lost all power, lights started flashing on my dash, and once again car was in limp mode.
NOW the mechanic (same as before) says that there is water in my ECU he had it out and dried it, but ultimately need a new ECU.

SORRY for all the detail, just really need help. Phoning around and no one can help. Trying not to go to the main dealers as they're charging a lot.
I'm from the west midlands, can anyone please recommend or offer advice.

Erm.... Get a new ECU?

I would also make sure the source of the leak is repaired so you don't end up with the new one damaged.

My wife had the ECU replaced on her old Fiat Punto, garage sourced a second hand one and coded it to the car. Was £300ish rather than £1500 for a brand spanker.

UPDATE.

Sent the ECU off to a place in derby which specialises in repairing ECUs. After having it for a week they have sent the part back, being unable to fix it as the part is the newer version they don't have the codes etc. to be able to fix it.

Seeming like the only option left it to get ripped off and go to a VW garage.

Have you contacted either of the companies linked to by previous posters? Although I'd be a bit wary about ecutesting as a quick scan of their website found no evidence of an address.

Would a scrap yard have one?.I do not know if it is linked to a particular car ie cannot be swopped to another without being re-coded.

Second hand VAG ECU can be re-coded, but it's a right ballache even if you're an experienced VCDS user. I wouldn't want to do it again having done so once on a Superb.

I used ECU testing to repair a throttle body, no issues to report.
