High income child benefit and PAYE

Following my 2015/16 self assessment to work out my high income child benefit charge I am paying the charge through my tax code and also paying the estimated 2016/17 charge through PAYE. I have just completed the SA return for 2016/17 and am not sure if I should have stated anywhere the total charge I owed from 2015/16 that I am clearing via PAYE. does anyone know if I should enter this charge or does the fact that my PAYE CODE since April 2017 has clawed back the amount owed mean that I should be entering 0 for underpaid tax and debts on the self assessment?

There may have been a different underpayment in your 2016:17 tax code but tax owed from Self Assessment returns goes in a three year cycle which means the money owed for 2015:16 would be in the current year (2017:18) tax code so not relevant to 2016:17
i.e. 2015:16 tax year had finished, during 2016:17 tax year you complete your return for 2015:16.
You either pay the tax due for 2015:16 by 31 January 2017 or it is collected from the start of the next tax year beginning 6 April 2017.
So you definitely need to include the 2015:16 underpayment figure on your next return but there may not be anything to show on your 2016:17 return.0
