Car Insurance Changing Car Excessive quote?

Hi all.
Changing the car on my car insurance policy:
From 02 Skoda Fabia Estate 1.9 TDI to 08 Ford Focus 2.0 TDI.
I was just quoted £193 to change to the new car. This is online so no admin fee included apparently. Does this seem excessive to you?
Details:
With Tesco, four months in, i pay upfront.
Policy cost £440.
Comprehensive of course.I have key cover, driver injury cover, motor legal protection, protected NCD. >9year NCD, voluntary excess £150. One no fault claim 4 1/2 years ago and one SP40 FPN 6 months ago.
Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated.

So you've to pay £193 for the remaining 8 months of the policy to upgrade to a newer car?
Doesn't sound too excessive to me.
For peace of mind might be worth doing a comparison for a full year with the new car and see what it comes up with.
If it's lower you could cancel the current policy and take out a new one, although there will be a cancellation charge.
  • I've already paid for the full year. It's £193 on top of that.
  • Yer i've cancelled and i'm gonna take out a new policy. Tesco didn't seem bothered to let me go.

How much is your new policy?

Its often assumed that the group alone affects the premium you pay it doesn't. The make (parts being more expensive, type of engine (diesels are more expensive to fit) and no of doors all factors. Doesn't sound unreasonable but always worth ringing round. Most insurers will match or bring down the premium if you find a cheaper alternative
  • I hope your new policy is less than £633.
  • New policy was £463, same voluntary excess, but without key cover(not a option), removed motor legal protection because i realised i get it through my union membership. Personally i thought a 65% increase was a lot so i cancelled.
